paste (right click) the following info:.In case you don’t know how to use Vim or Nano you can use Vim and issue the following once the editor has loaded the file. I prefer Vim as Nano or newer editors were not yet around when I was working on Unix systems. This will launch the Vim editor so you can edit your fstab file. FSTAB means File System Table, it is just a way of telling Unix or Unix-like operating systems how to mount a specific device (disk volume in our case) to a filesystem path. This is fixed by configuring your /etc/fstab file in your EC2 instance. If you don’t do this, whenever your EC2 instance restarts (stop/start) it will unmount the volume. Once the previous step is successful, proceed to configure your non-boot volume (the additional 8GB EBS volume mounted on /dev/sdb) to automatically mount whenever your EC2 instance starts up.issue a df -h command and you should see your filesystem /dev/xvdb mounted on /app/minecraft.Format the volume (do this only once, and for fresh volumes as it will delete the data in it).Do a manual mount of your volume first:.The reason for that is due to newer Linux kernels mostly using PV (Para Virtualization). You will notice that even though your volume name was /dev/sdb you will not see it in the list, it will show as /dev/xvdb instead.Find the UUID of your EBS volume.Issue a lsblk -f command to list all block devices in your EC2 instance.Issue a sudo apt update command to update your system tools.Make sure you login as as this is an Ubuntu ami and not an Amazon linux ami. Connect to the instance using PuTTy (it is assumed you know how to use the private key in your profile).Step 4: Automount your EBS volume to your EC2 Go back to your EC2 instance dashboard and startup your EC2 instance. This will be the public IP of your EC2 instance which will host your Minecraft server.Associate the newly created Elastic IP to your EC2 instance.Go back to the Elastic IPs page and under Actions, choose Associate Elastic IP address.Under Network & Security, click on Elastic IPs.So it is important to assign a static IP or in AWS terms it is called an Elastic IP. Step 3 : Assign a Static Public IP to the EC2 instanceĮC2 instances can have public IPs when created but that public IP (dynamic IP) will change every time the instance is restarted (stop/start). Stop the Instance once it has started, it is required for the next step. This is part of the prerequisites section. Launch, after you click Launch, you must choose the key pair you are currently using.Configure Security Group – select an existing security group (choose the one you created earlier).Use default values ( EBS, /dev/sdb, 8GB, gp2).Add a new volume for the application’s filesystem.Configure Instance – Choose the VPC you created earlier for the Network.Instance Type – Choose t2.small (I find t2.micro causes the game to lag).Choose Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS (HVM),EBS General Purpose (SSD) (64-bit x86).Delete the allow all traffic rule that is included by default.Choose the Security Group attached to the VPC you created earlier.Go back to the VPC services under Security and click on Security Groups.Create a Public subnet with IPv4 CIDR block with /30 (i.e.Choose VPC with a Single Public Subnet. 'Going to be pretty hot': Heat wave, lightning could spark new wildfires in Pacific Northwest, California 'Our hearts go out to the victims': 1 dead, multiple injuries in recent US lightning strikes in New York, North Carolina On behalf of myself and our entire community, I offer our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of this young man.” Our lifeguard teams, like so many along the shore, develop special connections with our community throughout the summer, which makes this loss even greater. “This young person was out there every day protecting the lives of others. “This is a tragic and heartbreaking day for our town and the entire Jersey Shore,” said Berkeley Mayor Carmen F. “Our hearts are with the family and friends of the young lifeguard killed by today’s horrific lightning strike on the beach in Berkeley Township, and we pray for a full recovery for those injured,” Murphy said. Phil Murphy released a statement shortly after 7 p.m. Most of the victims appeared to have relatively minor injuries, such as headaches and dizziness. The Berkeley Township Police Department said in a statement that of the seven injured, three were also township lifeguards.Īll of the survivors were being treated at area hospitals, police said. The victims were not identified on Monday night. The incident happened on the 21st Avenue beachfront in the South Seaside Park section, according to Ocean County officials. – A 19-year-old lifeguard is dead and seven other people were injured Monday after they were struck by lightning at a New Jersey beach. Watch Video: Video from 21st Avenue ocean beach in South Seaside ParkīERKELEY, N.J. The mid-engined car appeared to offer favorable qualities, although it was known at the time that such a layout would struggle to meet the noise, vibration, and harshness ( NVH) requirements of the project. The first round of judging the competing designs was held in April 1984, with designs presented on paper only. The California team proposed a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, codenamed Duo 101, in line with the British roadster ancestry, but their Japanese counterparts favored the more common front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout or the rear mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Thus, under head of project Masakatsu, the concept development was turned into a competition between the Mazda design teams in Tokyo and California. In 1983, the idea turned concept was approved under the "Offline 55" program, an internal Mazda initiative that sought to change the way new models were developed. There, Hall and Jordan collaborated on the parameters of the initial image, proportion and visualization of the "light-weight sports" concept. At this time Hall hired designer Mark Jordan to join the newly formed Mazda design studio in Southern California. In 1981, Hall moved to a product planning position with Mazda USA and again met Yamamoto, now chairman of Mazda Motors, who remembered their conversation about a roadster and in 1982 gave Hall the go-ahead to research the idea further. Yamamoto that somebody should build one inexpensive roadster. I babbled how the simple, bugs-in-the-teeth, wind-in-the-hair, classically-British sports car doesn't exist any more. Yamamoto and Gai Arai asked Hall what kind of car Mazda should make in the future: In 1976, Bob Hall, a journalist at Motor Trend magazine who was an expert in Japanese cars and fluent in the language, met Kenichi Yamamoto and Gai Arai, head of Research and Development at Mazda. Inducing oversteer is easy and very controllable, thus making the MX-5 a popular choice for amateur and stock racing, autocross, and club racing. With an approximate 50:50 front/rear weight balance, the car has nearly neutral handling. Some MX-5 models feature limited slip differentials, traction control, and an anti-lock braking system. Notably, the MX-5 incorporates a longitudinal truss, marketed as the Powerplant Frame (PPF), that provides a rigid connection between the engine and differential to minimize flex and improve balance. The lightweight, unibody MX-5 boasts sharp, responsive handling and a curb weight of under 2,500 pounds. The first generation MX-5 would go on to be the most popular of the four MX-5 generations by a wide margin, with over 228,961 units sold in the United States between 19. The MX-5 was officially introduced in February 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show, and the public immediately resonated with the new sports car. That left the Mazda as the spiritual successor to a host of discontinued sports cars such as the MG B, Triumph TR7, Triumph Spitfire, and Fiat Spider. However, even the Spider was not a direct competitor of the MX-5 due to its significantly higher price tag. The original MX-5 was launched at a time when small roadsters had almost disappeared from the market, with the Alfa Romeo Spider being one of the only comparable models still in production at the time. The name miata derives from Old High German for "reward". The second generation ( NB) launched in 1998 for MY 1999 followed by the third generation ( NC) in 2005 for MY 2006, and the fourth generation ( ND) in 2015 for MY 2016.Īs the best-selling two-seat convertible sports car in history, the MX-5 has been marketed globally, with production exceeding one million, as of early 2016. Generations were internally designated with a two-letter code, beginning with the first generation, the NA. The Lotus Elan was used as a design benchmark. Widely noted for its small, light, technologically modern, dynamically balanced and minimally complex design, the MX-5 has frequently been called a spiritual successor to 1950s and '60s Italian and British roadster sports cars. Manufactured at Mazda's Hiroshima plant, the MX-5 debuted in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show and was conceived and executed under a tightly focused design credo, Jinba ittai ( 人馬一体), meaning "oneness of horse and rider". The convertible is marketed as the Mazda Roadster ( マツダ・ロードスター, Matsuda Rōdosutā) or Eunos Roadster ( ユーノス・ロードスター, Yūnosu Rōdosutā) in Japan, and as the Mazda Miata ( / m i ˈ ɑː t ə/) in the United States, and formerly in Canada, where it is now marketed as the MX-5 but is still commonly referred to as Miata. The Mazda MX-5 is a lightweight two-passenger sports car manufactured and marketed by Mazda with a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. This cookie is set by GDPR Cookie Consent plugin. It’s graphics, photo, video, text, real-time connection, software, databases also a capacity to connect devices such as a mouse, webcam, movement sensor, GPS also a capacity for the public to make choices, engage, alterate content – and the possibility to connect with each other. This definition is very inspiring and opens so many doors. One of the difficult things though is to find a perfect equilibrium between form and content – how do you make sure that the user experience is not drowned by design or technology … how do you make the surface of an interactive device a canvas? If we go back to the definition of documentary, it says: artistic interpretation of reality. For instance, navigation is to web what editing is to cinema. You have to figure out how the experience of the user is the story – how all the small actions you want her/him to make write a larger tale. MIT Open Documentary Lab: What are the most useful skills for an interactive storyteller? What are the tools of the trade? Sweeney is interviewed here at Filmmaker as part of the “The New Interactive Storytelling” series collaboration with MIT’s Open Doc Lab. The project perfectly encapsulates our mission to show and support immersive, interactive work that brings story, craft and technology together and facilitates a more active audience experience.” Ingrid Kopp, Storyscapes programmer and Director of Digital Initiatives at Tribeca Film Institute, adds, “NFB Interactive have been trailblazers in the space of interactive storytelling, and I am thrilled to have A Journal of Insomnia in the inaugural Storyscapes section at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. That is why we are delighted to premiere the project at the Tribeca Film Festival. It is a genuine attempt to push the boundaries of the genre by merging art and design with technology and social media, to create a new vocabulary and grammar for visual storytelling. Hugues explains that, “This is not a traditional Web documentary. The original idea for the project comes from Hugues Sweeney, Executive Producer of NFB French Program’s Digital Studio in Montreal. The “unique nocturnal premiere” happens April 18. One of the Storyscapes projects I’m looking forward to at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival is A Journal of Insomnia, an “interactive fresco” combining confessions from insomniacs the world over and gathered since 2012. While you can absolutely make this recipe with a wooden spoon and some elbow grease, I do recommend using an electric mixer for the best results. Do you need an electric mixer to make this recipe? However, using a salted butter or baking spread will not affect the bake negatively and won't make it taste salty. I personally prefer not to add salt to cakes and cupcakes. Lots of people add salt to enhance the flavour of baked goods, so when you do this you want to know exactly how much you're adding. This is because if you want to add salt to your recipe, you then have complete control of the salt level. I always use unsalted butter and baking spread for baking. You can also use most baking spread straight from the fridge, which is handy during a last minute baking emergency! Should you use salted or unsalted butter for cupcakes? I find that they are easier to use and they make the sponge rise more. I prefer to use a baking spread (my preferred brand is Stork) for cupcake and cake sponges. I've tested this recipe multiple times and found that beating the butter and sugar together for 5 minutes achieves what I consider to be the perfect rise! Is butter or a baking spread better for cupcakes? I like a very slight bump or dome on my cupcakes, and for them to rise all the way to the top of the cupcake cases. You don't have to, but I do recommend doing this to achieve the same results as me. Do you have to beat the butter and sugar together for the full 5 minutes? Remove the clingfilm when you take the cupcakes out of the freezer to defrost, as if they defrost with it still on it could damage the decoration. To freeze them decorated, freeze the cupcakes on a plate until frozen solid, then carefully wrap in cling film. You can freeze the undecorated cupcakes, wrap them well in cling film or put them in an airtight container. You need to store them in the fridge due to the fresh whipped cream. The cupcakes will last for 2-3 days in an airtight container in the fridge. How long do the cupcakes last and can they be frozen? Whip up the double cream with the icing sugar and vanilla extract. Use a cupcake corer or a knife to remove the centre and fill with the cherry jam. Place on a cooling rack and leave to cool fully. Then divide the mixture between the cupcake cases.īake for 25-30 minutes, or until risen and a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean. Gently fold in, or whisk by hand, the self raising flour, cocoa powder and baking powder. Then add the eggs and milk, and mix until fully incorporated. Or mix in the bowl of your stand mixer with the paddle attachment. Start by mixing the baking spread, dark brown soft sugar and caster sugar together in a mixing bowl for 5 minutes using an electric mixer. If you want a very fine glittering, 2mm or 3mm crystals is the way to go. The crystal size you use is up to you and depends both on the surface area you’re covering and the look you want to achieve. Obviously the bigger the crystal you use the quicker you will be able to cover the surface, so shoes covered entirely in 2mm crystals will take you many hours longer to complete than shoes covered in 5mm crystals. Here are the things you’ll have to address. If you can afford that, great! But personally I’ve only ever dealt with the cheap non-Swarovski crystal kind, so that’s the guide I’m going to be offering you here. If you want to go the Swarovski route this is going to become less of a ‘budget’ job and will cost considerably more, considering Swavorski crystals cost around £3+ for a pack of 100 non-hot fix crystals, compared to a bag of 1000 flat backed crystals for between 99p-£1.50 online. When it comes to the crystals there’s a few things you’ll need to consider and decide. Use permanent marker, paint, or glitter in a colour that matches the crystals you’re using to give you a base coat that will mask your potential little beginner’s mistakes. This isn’t too difficult a matching task if you’ve bought an item specifically to be covered and can purchase the right colour beforehand, but if you’re giving a new lease of life to an old pair of white shoes and you now want them to be blue I recommend you get handy first. This is because no matter how hard you try to align your crystals exactly side by side you’re likely to end up with very small gaps between the crystals in some areas, especially if you’re dealing with an item that has any sort of curvature to the surface, and so a tiny slither of red between red crystals is going to be much less noticeable than a glimpse of black between clear crystals. My first tip before I get into the specifics is that it will make your life much easier if the colour of the item you’re covering is identical to or similar to the crystals you’re overlaying. – Your shoes or accessory of choice, clean and dry. Whether you want to bedazzle a pair of shoes, a phone case or a headband, you’re going to need the same materials and the same methodology. RuneScape Classic is seen as abandonware - a product without any support or little oversight - even by its own community. The game is now easily abused with the use of 3rd party macro tools, and botting has become an increasing issue.”īotting, which refers to bots that can replicate gameplay, is a well known problem, according to Paul. “This is particularly a problem with our community safety and macro detection tools. “With advancements in technology helping to further support both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape, our tools are no longer compatible with Classic,” the blog post reads. Serious botting issues were cited by Jagex in the company’s farewell blog post to the server, noting that as technology progressed, it became more difficult for the company to roll out security measures. Server maintenance and bugs are only some of the issues Jagex faced keeping RuneScape Classic going. “Once I’ve finished all those videos and there’s nothing left to make, I’ll probably get back to playing Old School RuneScpae and probably stream it or make more videos.”Ī big part of Paul’s plans involve looking at what happened to RuneScape Classic over the years, including the biggest threat and reason the server is finally shutting down: botting. “I’ll start working on RuneScape Classic videos I’ve been meaning to make for many months, but haven’t yet, such as informative videos, discussions about Jagex’s handling of RuneScape Classic, discussions of common myths Old School RuneScape and RuneScape 3 players have about the game, and tons of other things,” Paul said. There are videos he’s wanted to work on for months, and now that Classic is shutting down for good, he’s found a new reason to make those videos a top priority. He wants to focus on creating educational videos about RuneScape Classic to keep the game’s memory alive, while also commenting on the state of other RuneScape games. RuneScape Classic content is a rarity these days with videos about it being created maybe once every couple days or weeks.” “Everyone is sad to see it go but for the most part I think the YouTube/Twitch side of the RuneScape community is already recovering from the announcement. “There’s a lot of people that care about but prefer to play Old School RuneScape and RuneScape 3 instead,” he said. It’s a rough time for the RuneScape Classic streaming community, but Colonello many fans had already switched over to streaming other RuneScape servers in anticipation of a finite moment, and even those completely dedicated to Classic only upload every few days at best. It was literally the staring point for a game that millions of people play today.” Even so, I don’t want the history of this game to be forgotten as it’s the only reason old school RuneScape and RuneScape 3 exist. “Sadly, it’ll be a lot more difficult, seeing as I will no longer be able to enter the game to record footage or fact check. “I plan to continue making videos about the game due to my channels focus on its history,” Colonello said. Colonello doesn’t want to give up on the RuneScape Classic community entirely, but admitted that without access to the server, the style of his videos will have to change. Colonello, a RuneScape Classic YouTuber, is already planning his next steps once RuneScape Classic shuts down in August. “I began thinking what exactly to focus on and do with so little time left, and I’m kind of still in that state of mind.” “We all figured at some point that RSC would shut down one day due to bugs and server maintenance (the JMods made this very clear several times), but I don’t think many of us expected Jagex to formally close it,” Paul said. Paul, who streams under the name Beast Fable, told Polygon he was “shocked and sad” when Jagex made the announcement last week, even though he began prepping for the inevitable a while ago. That’s more than a decade of playing the classic MMORPG - building friends, learning the game and, most importantly, getting to know those involved with the game through Jagex. Paul, a 30-year-old web developer in Wisconsin, started playing RuneScape in 2003, but didn’t start streaming until 2016. No one could have predicted the server’s closure. The streamers exist in their own little cocoon, happy to continue playing RuneScape. It’s not a full time job or a get-rich-quick-scheme it’s a passion project. But the 100 streamers who solely focus on the classic fantasy MMORPG have developed followings with audiences who return time and time again to explore an aging map. The RuneScape Classic Twitch community isn’t competing for attention with Fortnite streamers or well-known personalities. RuneScape Classic, the original version of the game developed by Jagex 17 years ago, is shutting down, a devastating turn of events for a devout group of Twitch streamers.
